What’s so special about Peruvian Horses?
Descended from the horses brought to the New World by the Spanish Conquistadors, the Peruvian Horse is born with a smooth, natural way of going stamped into their genetic heritage by hundreds of years of selective breeding. The smooth gait makes Peruvian Horses an excellent choice for the rider who wants to avoid the discomfort of a trot. Peruvian Horses are hotbloods, and are generally quite forward and energetic. This can make them intimidating at first for some new riders or those accustomed to a less energetic breed, but we believe that with proper training, support and understanding, these horses provide an equine experience like no other. “Hot” does not mean spooky or unmanageable, and our horses have a strong foundation of basic groundwork to teach them calmness and self-control while preserving their energy and spirit.
The Peruvians are sensitive by nature, and are therefore wonderful partners in equine assisted personal development. Most of the horses here have been with me their entire lives, and have built a deep sense of trust and respect with humans.

Colorado wins Champion of Champions Pleasure Gelding at B.C. Regional Championship Peruvian Horse Show
Colorado is my partner for life. “Rado” was born on June 24, 1994 and in many ways, we grew up together. He was the first foal out of my breeding program, and he went on to become Canadian National Champion of Champions Pleasure Gelding three times – in 2000, 2003 and 2004 in addition to many other titles. I showed him for ten years until his actions made it clear he was not interested in the stress of the show ring any longer.
When I began to study the Equine Gestalt Coaching Method, Colorado was clearly interested in working with clients. His specialty is to hold space so that clients can feel safer looking at and working through painful emotions and dealing with them so that the patterns of the past do not continue to colour your future. I feel blessed that he has been a part of my life for all of his life.
I fell in love with Colorado when he was less than two hours old. Here’s your chance to fall in love with him, too.

Ricky is Rado’s little brother. He had a challenging start in life as his mother died when he was only a few months old. He was a champion to me from birth, but I was happy that he also earned a Championship in the show ring the very first time he was shown in bit. Ricky is a loveable clown whose expertise is in giving action to a client’s feelings. This is hard to explain, and needs to be experienced to be understood. He adores people and loves to hang with us.
Cosmo is a serious little fellow. He is a nephew of Rado and Ricky – a son of their sister, Celestina. He is a beautiful grey gelding that sends waves of peace to his clients. Cosmo is also a show horse and part of the future of this program. This is no one-trick pony.
Jalepeño is a gorgeous stallion who may be incorporated into the program in the future. He is another Candian National Champion, and is so handsome that he gets all the attention and shows up in all the pictures so I thought he needed to be mentioned.
